Why is it important to have a chavrusa? In order to answer this we have to first understand what is a chavrusa? The word chavrusa comes from the word chaver which means a friend. A friend is someone who you could speak to and helps you understand yourself and the world around you better. A chavrusa first and foremost is someone to learn Torah with in order to help you understand better that which you are learning. As the saying goes two minds are better then one. Each one will have his own way of explaining the learning and will ask different questions on the subject. And through this they will come up with a better understanding of the subject matter.

What is the best type of chavrusa to have? In truth there are two types of chavrusas one is a peer who is on the same level in learning Torah so together they have to work out the subject matter on their own. The second one is when one of the two are on a higher level and he leads the chavrusa to come to the understanding of the subject
